Spree, entspringt an der böhmischen Grenze in lausitzer Gebirge, nimmt ihren Lauf durch den schlesischen Regierungsbezirk Liegnitz in das Brandenburgische, theilt sich hier in unzählbare kleine Arme, welche die unter dem Namen des Spreewaldes bekannte Niederung bilden, fließt dann in mehreren Armen durch Berlin, und ergießt sich nach einem Laufe von 46 M., von welcher Strecke ungefähr die Hälfte schiffbar ist, bei Spandau in die Havel.
