Andreini, Isabella, Isabella, eine der berühmtesten Schauspielerinnen Italiens, 1562 geboren, errang als Dichterin einen so großen Ruf, daß sie von der Akademie ihrer Vaterstadt Padua zum Mitgliede gewählt wurde. Sie machte sich als dramatische Künstlerin auch dem Auslande bekannt und wurde namentlich von der königlichen Familie in Paris mit Ehrenbezeigungen überhäuft. Sie starb 1604 in Lyon, ihr Tod wurde allgemein betrauert; eine Menge Elegien von verschiedenen Dichtern ist ihren Werken vorgedruckt. Diese bestehen, außer einzelnen Gedichten, namentlich in dem Schäferspiel Mirtilla, 1588 in Verona gedruckt, und in einer Sammlung von Sonetten, Liedern, Madrigalen und Eklogen, die unter dem Titel: Canzonniere 1601 in Mailand erschien.
